Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Hope you enjoyed my last blog about self-care! Thank you to everyone who has listened to our first three episodes of Season 2. If you haven't already, make sure you tune to The Way We C It's latest episode where we talk about Black History in honor of Black History Month (Click here to listen)!

This blog was released a little later than I anticipated because I was busy celebrating life lol. On Saturday, February 13, was my birthday! I am officially 24 years old, which is crazy! If you ask me, “how does it feel to be 24?” I would not know how to respond because I am still processing it all. I am not going to lie celebrating your birthday during a pandemic feels a bit strange. It kind of feels like a simulation because my 23rd birthday was literally the other day. I vividly remember celebrating my birthday last year with my family and friends not knowing what was to come within the next few weeks. Perhaps I also felt a bit strange because I did not get to do the things I wanted to this year. Ideally, I wanted to go somewhere tropical and drink margaritas on a beach (maybe next year lol). Additionally, every year I go out to dinner with my loved ones, which has become a tradition for my birthday. I could have continued the tradition, but I was not in the mood to go out knowing restaurants would be packed due to Valentine’s Day weekend.
So what did I do for my birthday this year? I stayed home the entire day and celebrated with my family. For brunch, my mother cooked the ideal Dominican breakfast: mangu, salami y huevos. For those who don’t know, I love to eat, so you already know I had two plates lol. After brunch, I finally finished Season 2 of All American with my cousin who had slept over for the weekend. I barely finish shows, so this is a big accomplishment for me to finish two entire seasons of All American! For dinner, my aunt cooked oxtail (MY FAVVVV), moro negro (rice), and I made my famous baked mac and cheese. The food was amazing and everyone raved about my baked mac and cheese! Later in the night, I watched my Quinceañera video with my family and relieved great memories. Overall, I had an amazing day with my family and it really made me appreciate the little things in life and not think about how I ideally wanted to celebrate my birthday. The entire day I was surrounded by genuine love and good eats, which is a blessing! I also greatly appreciated all the birthday texts and calls I received from my family and friends. This is one of the many things the pandemic has taught me, to be grateful for the little things. So yeah, that’s how I celebrated my birthday this year. Cheers to more life and more blessings!
